The company was founded in 2009 by Vivek Ravisankar and Hari Karunanidhi, both alumni of NIT Trichy, with Vinayak Nair also among the early team. Originally known as InterviewStreet, the company went through Y Combinator in 2011 and rebranded to HackerRank shortly after. Vivek Ravisankar is co-founder and chief executive officer.
