Associate Backend Engineer (PEG)

About the role

Bain & Company is looking for an Associate Backend Engineer to join its Bain Capability Network (BCN) PEG Centre of Excellence in New Delhi. The role blends backend software development with AI and large‑language‑model integrations, building scalable services that support internal tools and consulting engagements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Python‑based backend services using FastAPI or Flask.
• Integrate OpenAI or similar LLM APIs to create AI‑powered summarisation, classification and workflow automation features.
• Process and analyse data sets with Pandas, NumPy and XlsxWriter, and store vector embeddings in appropriate databases.
• Build and consume REST APIs, connect to relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) data stores.
• Adopt modern DevOps practices with Git, Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with technical leads and consulting teams to translate business requirements into robust solutions.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related discipline.
• For undergraduate graduates: 2–5 years of backend development experience.
• For postgraduate graduates: 0–3 years of backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and English communication skills.

Skills
