Senior Software Engineer - Frontend (React/TypeScript)

About the role

Applied Materials is hiring a Senior Software Engineer – Frontend to create high‑performance, data‑rich user interfaces for semiconductor and AI‑chip manufacturing equipment. Based in Bangalore, the role focuses on building real‑time React and WebGL applications that handle large data sets and integrate with backend services.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement complex UI features using React, TypeScript, and Redux Toolkit following engineering best practices.
• Develop high‑performance, data‑intensive visualizations with real‑time updates, leveraging Canvas/WebGL/SVG.
• Write unit tests and UI automation using React Testing Library, Jest, Vitest, and Playwright.
• Integrate frontend components with RESTful APIs and real‑time streams such as Server‑Sent Events or WebSockets.
• Provide on‑site customer support, troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues.
• Communicate development status proactively and coordinate with global teams on requirements and issue resolution.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers.
• Travel up to 10 % of the time for short‑term onsite assignments like feature integrations.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent) with at least 6 years of software development experience.
• Minimum 4 years of hands‑on experience building React applications in a product environment.
• Strong understanding of object‑oriented design, design patterns, data structures and algorithms.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with distributed global teams.

Skills

• React, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), CSS/SCSS, Redux Toolkit.
• Real‑time data handling via WebSockets or Server‑Sent Events.
• RESTful API integration and OpenAPI client usage.
• UI testing with React Testing Library, Jest, Vitest and automation with Playwright.
• Version control with Git and debugging using browser DevTools.
