Viacom18 Media Private Limited is an Indian media and entertainment company headquartered in Mumbai. It was incorporated in 2007 as a joint venture between Viacom (later Paramount Global) and Network18 Media & Investments Limited, the media holding of Reliance Industries. Following a series of restructurings, Viacom18 evolved into a Reliance-controlled entity with a portfolio spanning broadcast television, film, sports, and digital streaming. Viacom18 operates a portfolio of more than three dozen television channels across general entertainment, movies, sports, kids, and music genres, with brands such as Colors, MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, VH1, Colors Cineplex, Rishtey, and the Sports18 channel family. Its sports business has held domestic and international cricket, football, and other sports rights, including coverage of the Indian Premier League and major football leagues. Through Viacom18 Studios, the company produces and distributes Hindi and regional-language films, and through its consumer-products and live-events business it extends its brands beyond linear television. The JioCinema streaming service, owned by Viacom18, is one of India's largest streaming platforms by users and provides a mix of live sports, on-demand entertainment, news, kids' content, and originals across freemium and subscription tiers. In 2024, Viacom18 announced a merger with The Walt Disney Company's India business, creating a combined Indian media-and-entertainment entity in which Reliance, Disney, and Bodhi Tree Systems hold stakes.
