About Uber
Uber Technologies, Inc. is an American multinational technology company headquartered in San Francisco, California. Founded in 2009 by Garrett Camp and Travis Kalanick, the company operates a global mobility, delivery, and freight platform that connects riders with drivers, eaters with merchants and couriers, and shippers with carriers across cities worldwide. Uber went public on the New York Stock Exchange in May 2019 under the ticker UBER. Uber's businesses are organised across three main segments: Mobility, which includes ride-hailing services such as UberX, Uber Black, Uber Comfort, and a range of regional offerings including auto-rickshaws and motorbikes; Delivery, anchored by Uber Eats with grocery, retail, and alcohol delivery in select markets; and Freight, which connects shippers with carriers in the United States and Europe. Uber also operates the Uber for Business platform and a growing advertising business across its rider and eater apps. Uber India and South Asia is one of the company's largest international markets, with engineering, product, and operations teams spread across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Gurugram, and other Indian cities. The Bengaluru and Hyderabad sites host one of Uber's largest engineering centres outside the United States, contributing to the global Mobility, Delivery, and Marketplace platforms, payments, maps, AI and machine learning, and infrastructure work. Indian fresher and early-career hiring at Uber typically targets software-engineer, data-engineer, machine-learning-engineer, mobile-engineer, site-reliability-engineer, product-management-trainee, and operations-trainee roles, sourced through structured campus placements at Indian Institutes of Technology, Indian Institutes of Information Technology, and other top engineering institutes alongside the company's global graduate and internship programmes.
