About Morgan Stanley
Morgan Stanley is an American multinational investment bank and financial-services firm headquartered in New York City. The firm provides investment banking, capital markets, sales and trading, equity and fixed-income research, prime brokerage, wealth management, and investment management services to corporations, governments, institutions, and high-net-worth and retail individuals across more than 40 countries. The company was founded in September 1935 by Henry Sturgis Morgan, Harold Stanley, and others as a result of the Glass-Steagall Act, which forced J.P. Morgan & Co. to separate its investment-banking operations from commercial banking. Morgan Stanley is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker MS. It went public in 1986 and has expanded substantially through acquisitions including Dean Witter Discover (1997), Smith Barney (joint venture in 2009 with Citigroup), E*TRADE (2020), and Eaton Vance (2021). Morgan Stanley operates through three principal business segments: Institutional Securities, which provides investment-banking advisory, equity and debt underwriting, and sales and trading; Wealth Management, which serves individuals and small businesses through advisor-led, self-directed E*TRADE, and workplace channels; and Investment Management, which offers asset-management products to institutional and intermediary clients globally. The firm employs approximately 80,000 people globally. India operations are anchored by Morgan Stanley Advantage Services in Mumbai and Bengaluru, the firm's largest professional-services centre outside the United States, supporting technology, operations, finance, risk, research, and corporate functions for the global business. Indian fresher and early-career hiring at Morgan Stanley targets technology, operations, finance, risk, internal-audit, and research analyst roles, with applications routed through Morgan Stanley's campus careers portal at morganstanley.com.
