Lenovo Group Limited is a Hong Kong-listed multinational technology company with dual operational headquarters in Beijing, China and Morrisville, North Carolina, United States. The company designs, develops, manufactures, and sells personal computers, tablets, workstations, servers, storage and networking products, smartphones, smart devices, and IT services to consumer, small-business, enterprise, and public-sector customers in more than 180 markets. The company was founded in 1984 in Beijing as Legend Holdings by Liu Chuanzhi and ten engineers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It was renamed Lenovo in 2003 ahead of its international expansion. In May 2005, Lenovo acquired IBM's personal-computer business — including the ThinkPad and ThinkCentre brands — establishing the company as a global PC vendor. Subsequent acquisitions included IBM's x86 server business and Motorola Mobility, both completed in 2014. Lenovo trades on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under the ticker 992 and is a constituent of the Hang Seng Index. Yuanqing Yang serves as chairman and chief executive officer.
