InterGlobe Aviation Limited, operating under the brand IndiGo, is India's largest airline by passengers carried, fleet size, and domestic market share, headquartered in Gurgaon, Haryana. The airline operates scheduled passenger and cargo services to more than 120 destinations, including a network of domestic destinations across India and international destinations across South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa, predominantly using a fleet of Airbus A320, A321, and ATR 72 aircraft, with widebody A350 deliveries planned for international expansion. IndiGo was founded in 2006 by Rahul Bhatia of InterGlobe Enterprises and Rakesh Gangwal, a United States-based aviation industry veteran, and commenced commercial operations in August 2006 with a single Airbus A320 aircraft. The airline pursued a low-cost, high-frequency, single-fleet strategy and overtook the legacy Indian carriers in domestic market share in 2012. InterGlobe Aviation conducted its initial public offering on the BSE and the National Stock Exchange of India in November 2015 under the ticker INDIGO. IndiGo offers a low-cost, no-frills product on the majority of its network with optional add-ons including extra legroom seats, food, baggage allowances, and lounge access, and a higher-service IndiGoStretch cabin on selected routes. The airline operates the BluChip frequent-flyer programme and a separate cargo brand, IndiGo CarGo. Its corporate functions include flight operations, engineering, ground services, customer experience, technology, network planning, and revenue management. IndiGo employs more than 35,000 people across its corporate offices, hubs, and stations, primarily in India.
