About Axis Bank Limited

Axis Bank Limited is an Indian private-sector bank headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is the third-largest private-sector bank in India by assets and offers a full spectrum of financial services including retail banking, corporate banking, treasury operations, transaction banking, wealth management, and merchant acquiring. The bank was incorporated on 3 December 1993 as UTI Bank, founded under the joint promotion of the Specified Undertaking of Unit Trust of India (SUUTI), Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC), and four public-sector general-insurance companies. UTI Bank commenced operations in 1994, becoming one of the first new-generation Indian private banks to open after the Reserve Bank of India’s 1993 banking-sector reforms. The bank was renamed Axis Bank in 2007. Axis Bank operates a domestic network of approximately 5,000 branches and over 15,000 ATMs and cash recyclers across India, supplemented by international branches and representative offices. The bank has expanded through acquisitions including Freecharge, the Citibank India consumer-banking business, and stakes in subsidiaries such as Axis Capital, Axis Securities, Axis Mutual Fund, and Axis Finance. The bank operates large technology and operations centres in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Noida that house core-banking engineering, digital channels, data, fraud and risk, and operations teams. Axis Bank also runs the Axis Bank Foundation for community programmes. Indian fresher and early-career hiring at Axis Bank targets technology, operations, branch banking, sales, credit, risk, audit, and chartered-accountancy roles, with technology applications routed through the bank’s careers portal.
