About Amazon
Amazon sells products online and in physical stores, and offers sellers and advertisers services to reach shoppers. Its cloud arm, Amazon Web Services (AWS), sells computing, storage, database, analytics and AI services to developers and businesses. It also makes Kindle, Echo and Fire devices and runs the Prime Video streaming service. At the end of 2025 it had about 1,576,000 full-time and part-time employees.
In India, Amazon runs the Amazon.in store, launched in 2013, and has corporate offices in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai and the Delhi NCR; its Hyderabad campus, opened in 2019, holds Amazon’s largest office building. Scientists, linguists and engineers in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai build core parts of the Alexa+ voice assistant, such as speech recognition for Indian accents and language understanding for mixed Hindi and English. Teams in India also built Amazon Now, a quick-delivery service started in Bengaluru in 2025.
