Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

Razorpay is looking for a senior engineer who will be embedded with one of its largest merchants. You will own the merchant’s technical success from concept to production, leveraging Razorpay’s platform and AI‑driven coding agents to deliver custom payment solutions quickly and reliably.

Responsibilities

• Act as the single engineering point of contact for a merchant, handling end‑to‑end technical delivery.
• Gather vague business requirements, define a concrete technical plan, and ship production‑grade code in Razorpay or the merchant’s repositories.
• Utilise AI coding, knowledge and routing agents to accelerate development, code reviews and incident triage.
• Design and implement APIs, webhooks, SDK integrations and orchestration logic, often on cloud platforms (AWS/GCP).
• Document reusable patterns and feed them back to Razorpay product teams for platform improvement.
• Maintain regular communication cadence with merchants, responding to issues within two hours.

Eligibility

• Minimum 4 years of professional software development experience (SDE2+ level).
• Proven end‑to‑end ownership of shipped products with direct customer interaction.
• Strong fluency with AI‑assisted development tools.
• Excellent communication skills to translate complex technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.
• Comfort working in ambiguous environments and delivering results without detailed specs.
• Hands‑on background in solutions architecture, data or ML engineering.

Skills

• Python and at least one of Java, Go or TypeScript.
• Experience building and consuming APIs, webhooks, and integration patterns.
• Cloud infrastructure knowledge (AWS or GCP) and distributed system debugging.
• Understanding of payments flow and related security considerations.
• Daily use of AI coding assistants and agents.
• Strong problem‑solving and system design capabilities.
