About the role

PwC is looking for a Tax Associate to support corporate and international tax engagements in Bengaluru. The role involves advising clients on domestic and cross‑border tax matters, preparing technical research, and assisting with tax compliance and litigation. Candidates with a CA qualification or a commerce background and up to two years of experience are welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical research on domestic tax laws, international tax commentaries, OECD publications and internal knowledge bases.
  • Interpret and apply provisions of the Income Tax Act, tax treaties, FEMA and related regulations.
  • Advise clients on complex corporate tax issues such as permanent establishments, GAAR, and double‑tax treaties.
  • Support pre‑ and post‑acquisition tax advisory work, including group restructuring and due‑diligence documentation.
  • Prepare memos, presentations and opinions based on detailed analysis of tax issues.
  • Assist in tax assessment proceedings and litigation before CIT(A), DRP, ITAT and other authorities.
  • Handle ongoing compliance tasks like income‑tax returns and TDS calculations using tax technology tools.
  • Oversee junior analysts, review work programmes and keep managers updated on progress.

Eligibility

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification or a commerce‑related graduate degree.
  • 0‑2 years of relevant experience in corporate or international tax.
  • Prior articleship in a Big‑4 firm or experience in transfer pricing is advantageous.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of direct tax, corporate tax, international tax and transfer pricing.
  • Familiarity with FEMA, tax treaties and OECD guidelines.
  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office for report preparation and data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently, manage client expectations and mentor junior team members.
