Software Engineer 2

About the role

Microsoft is hiring a Software Engineer 2 for its Bangalore office. The role focuses on building production‑grade software while leveraging AI tools throughout the development lifecycle. Candidates will design, code, test, deploy and support services, and they will also participate in on‑call incident handling and telemetry improvement.

Responsibilities

• Utilize AI‑assisted tools across the entire software development lifecycle and validate generated code.
• Develop extensible, low‑defect, maintainable production software following security best practices.
• Conduct peer code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure test coverage.
• Participate in architectural design, evaluate alternatives, and document technical decisions.
• Create test strategies, automate testing, and close coverage gaps.
• Automate build and deployment pipelines, employ safe rollout and rollback mechanisms.
• Serve as a Directly Responsible Individual during on‑call rotations, mitigate incidents, and improve monitoring and telemetry.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in at least one of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript or Python.
• Ability to meet Microsoft’s cloud background‑check and security screening requirements.

• Strong programming skills in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript or Python.
• Software architecture, design patterns, and secure coding practices.
• Unit, integration and automated testing.
• Version‑controlled collaborative development (Git).
• CI/CD, deployment automation, and feature‑flag driven releases.
• Production troubleshooting, monitoring, and telemetry.
