About the role

Microsoft is looking for a PhD‑level Applied Sciences Intern to work on cutting‑edge AI and machine‑learning projects. You will translate product challenges into research problems, build and evaluate models—including large language models—and help bring research breakthroughs into Microsoft products.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and assess AI/ML solutions for real‑world product scenarios.

Eligibility

  • Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Econometrics or a related field.
  • At least one academic term remaining after the internship.
  • Research experience in ML, deep learning, NLP, computer vision, generative AI or related areas.
  • Strong Python programming skills and familiarity with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Proven ability to design experiments, analyse results and communicate technical outcomes.
  • Experience handling large‑scale data pipelines and end‑to‑end ML workflows.
