About the role
Keka is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test who will own the quality of its HRTech SaaS platform. You will collaborate with developers and product managers to design, build, and maintain automated UI and API tests, ensuring that new features ship reliably and meet the high standards expected by Keka’s customers.
Responsibilities
- Analyse product requirements and design documents to spot quality risks and define test scenarios.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts for web UI, APIs and backend services using frameworks such as Selenium or Cypress.
- Create reusable test libraries for functional, regression, integration and end‑to‑end testing.
- Work closely with developers to catch defects early and promote a shift‑left testing mindset.
- Execute API tests with tools like Postman and validate data integrity using SQL queries.
- Integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines to accelerate feedback cycles.
- Track, document and verify defect resolution throughout the development lifecycle.
- Identify flaky tests, testing gaps and repetitive manual tasks, proposing automation improvements.
- Participate in performance and security testing activities when required.
- Continuously explore new testing tools and best practices to enhance test coverage and efficiency.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years of professional experience in QA, SDET or software testing.
- Strong analytical mindset with a passion for automation and quality engineering.
Skills
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C#, .NET, Python, Java or JavaScript.
- Hands‑on experience with automation tools like Selenium, Cypress or Playwright.
- Familiarity with test frameworks (TestNG, JUnit, Mocha, etc.).
- API testing expertise using Postman or similar REST clients.
- Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases for backend validation.
- Experience with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- Good grasp of Agile/Scrum development processes.
- Knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git.
- Ability to write clear defect reports and collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Exposure to performance or security testing is a plus.
