Software QA Apprentice

About the role

Itron is hiring a Software Quality Assurance Apprentice in Bangalore. The position is aimed at fresh graduates or final‑year students in Computer Science, IT, Electronics or related streams who want to start a career in software testing and automation, with a focus on Playwright.

Responsibilities

• Create, execute and maintain both manual and automated test cases.
• Assist in functional, regression, integration and system testing activities.
• Identify, document and track software defects throughout their lifecycle.
• Support test‑automation efforts using Playwright and related scripting languages.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand‑ups and retrospectives.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners and senior QA engineers to improve testing processes.

Eligibility

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics or a related discipline.
• Basic understanding of software testing concepts and defect tracking.
• Willingness to learn test‑automation tools, especially Playwright.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Positive attitude and ability to work in a team‑oriented Agile environment.

Skills

• JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals.
• Familiarity with Java or Python is advantageous.
• Understanding of web application basics and the Software Development Lifecycle.
• Agile development methodology awareness.
• Interest in test‑automation frameworks and tools.
