About the role

IBM's India Systems Development Lab (ISDL) is hiring entry‑level Software Engineers to work on a wide spectrum of systems‑level technologies, including cloud software, AI platforms, Linux, storage, firmware and performance engineering. The position is based in Bangalore, Pune or Hyderabad and offers fresh graduates the chance to contribute to enterprise‑grade products that power large‑scale data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse product and technical requirements and translate them into software designs.
  • Develop clean, maintainable code in languages such as C, C++, Python, Java or Go.
  • Create automated test suites and validation frameworks to ensure product quality.
  • Debug issues, perform root‑cause analysis and fix defects across the development lifecycle.
  • Conduct performance testing and optimisation for system‑level components.
  • Collaborate with product managers, hardware teams and other engineering groups in an Agile environment.
  • Participate in design‑thinking, DevOps and open‑source community activities where relevant.

Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical discipline (Master’s degree also considered for certain tracks).
  • Strong fundamentals in programming, data structures and algorithms.
  • Good problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
  • Understanding of software development and testing concepts.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and work in cross‑functional teams.

Skills

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (C, C++, Python, Java or Go).
  • Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms and problem‑solving techniques.
  • Knowledge of Linux operating‑system fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with computer architecture and systems concepts.
  • Basic understanding of cloud, virtualization or distributed‑system principles.
  • Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD practices.
