Lead Frontend Engineer

About the role

This is a lead-level frontend position with full ownership of HackerRank's candidate assessment product — the interface developers use when taking technical evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end frontend of the candidate assessment product
• Architect and build reusable component libraries used across HackerRank's product suite
• Drive performance metrics including Core Web Vitals and responsiveness
• Build AI-powered features inside the candidate experience
• Collaborate with product and design on the broader hiring journey UX
• Mentor engineers and lead features from ideation to production

Eligibility

• 6–8 years of production frontend experience with strong React expertise
• Deep command of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
• Experience designing scalable frontend architectures and component systems
• Strong grasp of performance optimisation and modern build tooling
• Comfortable leading cross-functional projects and mentoring engineers
• Active use of AI-native tools in your day-to-day
