About the role
Electronic Arts is seeking a Game Design Intern for its Hyderabad studio. You will join a multidisciplinary game team, assisting senior designers in creating, testing, and refining live‑service features for mobile titles. The role offers hands‑on exposure to systems design, content creation, balancing, and the use of AI‑assisted workflows.
Responsibilities
- Support the design of game features, systems, content and live‑service experiences.
- Translate design concepts into clear flows, rules, requirements and documentation.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas for new mechanics, events and player experiences.
- Playtest prototypes, identify design issues, gather feedback and iterate on solutions.
- Collaborate with engineers, artists, product managers, analysts and QA to move ideas toward implementation.
- Use player data and design principles to refine and improve existing features.
- Assist in balancing gameplay elements such as progression, rewards and difficulty.
- Research competitor games and market trends to inspire innovative design solutions.
- Contribute to live‑service content like events, challenges and recurring activities.
- Explore AI‑assisted tools to enhance ideation, research, prototyping and documentation.
Eligibility
- Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Game Design, Game Development, Computer Science, Interactive Media, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of core game design principles such as loops, motivation, progression, balance and reward systems.
- Creative problem‑solving ability and clear communication through documents, diagrams or prototypes.
- Willingness to learn, accept feedback and iterate on designs.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
- Portfolio or project work that demonstrates game‑design thinking (e.g., game jam, level design, system design).
