About the role

eBay is seeking a Software Engineer focused on backend development and site reliability. Based in Bengaluru, the hybrid role blends building scalable micro‑services with ensuring high availability, observability, and rapid incident response for a global commerce platform.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test and maintain backend services, REST APIs and micro‑services using Java, Go or Python.
Implement monitoring, logging, tracing and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK and OpenTelemetry.
Investigate production incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and deliver long‑term reliability fixes.
Optimize distributed systems for performance, scalability and fault tolerance.
Create automation tools and improve CI/CD pipelines to reduce operational overhead.
Collaborate with architecture, platform, SRE and operations teams to enhance system design and reliability.
