Java API Developer

About the role

Birlasoft is looking for a Java API Developer to design, build and maintain robust RESTful services using Java 8+ and Spring Boot. The role involves end‑to‑end ownership of APIs, from database modeling and security implementation to deployment on Azure‑enabled Docker/Kubernetes environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain REST APIs with Spring Boot, incorporating security standards like OAuth2, JWT and rate limiting.
• Design database schemas, write efficient SQL/NoSQL queries, and handle migrations.
• Implement observability using structured logging, metrics (Micrometer) and health checks.
• Set up CI/CD pipelines, containerize applications with Docker and manage basic Kubernetes deployments.
• Collaborate in Agile squads, participate in grooming, code reviews and maintain API documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger).
• Provide production support, including on‑call rotation and performance tuning.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology or related field (B.E/B.Tech preferred).
• 1–3 years of professional experience in Java development.
• Strong command of Java 8+ (preferably 11/17) and Spring Boot.
• Hands‑on experience with Git, Maven/Gradle and relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Familiarity with API documentation tools (OpenAPI/Swagger) and testing utilities (Postman, Rest Assured).
• Understanding of data structures, concurrency and error handling.
