The company operates Quora, a social question-and-answer website and online knowledge community on which users can post questions, contribute and rank answers, follow topics and other users, and engage with topical content across millions of subjects in many languages. The company was founded in June 2009 by Adam D’Angelo, the former chief technology officer of Facebook, and Charlie Cheever, also a former Facebook engineer. Adam D’Angelo serves as chief executive officer. The Quora platform launched publicly in 2010 and grew into one of the largest English-language question-and-answer sites, later expanding into language editions including Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Hindi, Indonesian, and others. Quora’s revenue model is built around advertising on its question-and-answer pages, the Quora+ subscription product for premium content, and the Spaces creator-monetisation feature. The company employs roughly 200–500 people across its Mountain View headquarters and remote staff, and operates a development and operations presence in Bengaluru, India.
