Nike

Nike, Inc. is an American multinational athletic-footwear, apparel, equipment, and accessories company headquartered near Beaverton, Oregon. The company was founded on January 25, 1964, as Blue Ribbon Sports by University of Oregon track coach Bill Bowerman and his former student Phil Knight, and was officially renamed Nike, Inc. on May 30, 1971, taking its name from Nike, the Greek goddess of victory.

Nike is publicly listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker NKE and is a constituent of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The company markets its products under its own brand and a family of sub-brands and franchises including Nike Pro, Nike Golf, Air Force 1, Nike Dunk, Air Max, Nike Skateboarding, and the Air Jordan and Converse subsidiaries. It is the world's largest supplier of athletic shoes and apparel and a major manufacturer of sports equipment, with revenue measured in tens of billions of US dollars and a workforce of more than 80,000 people worldwide as of recent reporting.
