Lytx is an American video-telematics and fleet-management technology company headquartered in San Diego, California. The company traces its origins to DriveCam, founded in 1998, which pioneered event-triggered video capture for commercial-vehicle fleets, and rebranded to Lytx in 2014 as it expanded its product portfolio beyond core video safety. Lytx is owned by funds managed by Permira after a recapitalisation completed in 2020.
The Lytx platform combines purpose-built event recorders and dash cameras with artificial-intelligence and machine-vision software that detects risky driving behaviours such as following too closely, distracted driving, and rolling stops. The DriveCam, RAIR, Surfsight, and other product lines provide video, telematics, and analytics services for fleet safety, compliance, fuel-efficiency, and operational productivity. Lytx services include managed video review by safety-domain experts who annotate and prioritise events for fleet customers.
