The company was formed in June 2021 through the merger of Emsi (Economic Modeling Specialists International), founded in Moscow, Idaho in 2000, and Burning Glass Technologies, founded in Boston in 1999. The combined entity operated under the Emsi Burning Glass name briefly before adopting the Lightcast brand. Burning Glass Technologies CEO Matt Sigelman became CEO of the merged company. Lightcast is dual-headquartered in Moscow, Idaho and Boston, Massachusetts, with additional offices in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Italy, and India. Lightcast India runs operations from Bengaluru and supports global data engineering, taxonomy, and product development. The company’s data assets cover labor markets in more than 165 countries and are derived from billions of job postings, online profiles, and government and proprietary data sources. Lightcast products include Analyst (regional and occupational labor-market analysis), Compensation Insights, Talent Transform, and APIs for skills extraction and job-posting analytics. The Lightcast Open Skills Library publishes a public skills taxonomy used by partners. Indian fresher and early-career hiring at Lightcast typically targets software-engineering, data-engineering, data-science, and operations roles, with applications routed through jobs.lever.co/economicmodeling.
