The company is one of the largest mobile-network operators in the world by subscriber count and operates a nationwide all-IP LTE and 5G mobile network, fixed-broadband and fibre-to-the-home services under the JioFiber brand, an enterprise-connectivity business, and a digital-services portfolio that includes JioCinema, JioSaavn, JioMart, and the MyJio super-app.
The company was incorporated in 2007 and acquired pan-India broadband-wireless-access spectrum in 2010. After several years of network construction, Jio launched commercial 4G LTE services in September 2016 with disruptive pricing that significantly accelerated mobile-data adoption in India. Jio rolled out a standalone 5G network nationally between October 2022 and 2024.
