Ford Motor Company is an American multinational automaker headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan that designs, manufactures, markets, and services a full range of Ford passenger vehicles, trucks, sport-utility vehicles, and commercial vehicles, as well as Lincoln luxury vehicles, and provides retail and wholesale automotive financing through Ford Motor Credit Company. The company's product line includes the Ford F-Series pickups, Ford Bronco and Explorer sport-utility vehicles, the Ford Mustang and Mustang Mach-E, the Ford Transit van family, and Lincoln-branded luxury vehicles. The company was founded on 16 June 1903 by Henry Ford and 11 associate investors and incorporated in Michigan, United States. Ford pioneered moving-assembly-line mass production of the Model T from 1913 and remains one of the largest American automakers by revenue and unit sales. The Ford family retains a special class of voting stock through which it controls a significant share of voting power; Ford common stock is publicly listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker F. Ford organises its automotive operations into three segments: Ford Blue, which covers internal-combustion vehicles and the Bronco and Mustang families; Ford Model e, which covers electric vehicles and connected services including the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E; and Ford Pro, which serves commercial customers with vehicles, telematics, charging, parts, and services. Ford Motor Credit Company provides automotive financing to dealers and customers worldwide. Ford employs approximately 170,000 people globally. Its India operations historically included Ford India Private Limited, which operated manufacturing in Chennai and Sanand and an engineering and business services centre in Chennai. After exiting domestic vehicle manufacturing in India in 2021, Ford retained and expanded its Global Business Services and Technology centres in Chennai, Coimbatore, and Hyderabad.
