Ather Energy Limited is an Indian electric vehicle company headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka that designs and manufactures intelligent electric scooters, lithium-ion battery packs, in-vehicle software, and a public fast-charging network. The company's flagship products include the Ather 450X family of high-performance electric scooters and the Ather Rizta family designed for family use, both built on a vertically integrated electric powertrain and software stack.
Ather Energy was founded in 2013 by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, both alumni of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. The company unveiled its first prototype in 2016, launched the Ather 450 in Bengaluru in 2018, and progressively expanded sales and the Ather Grid public charging network to dozens of Indian cities. Ather operates a manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, and has counted Hero MotoCorp, Tiger Global, and the Government of India's National Investment and Infrastructure Fund among its investors. The company conducted its initial public offering on the BSE and the National Stock Exchange of India in May 2025 under the ticker ATHERENERG.
