About Altair
Altair Engineering is a US-based simulation, high-performance computing, and AI software company headquartered in Troy, Michigan. It develops engineering-design, computer-aided-engineering, computational fluid dynamics, electromagnetics, IoT, and data-analytics products used in automotive, aerospace, energy, electronics, and manufacturing. The company was founded in 1985 by James R. Scapa, George Christ, and Mark Kistner, and was publicly listed on Nasdaq under the ticker ALTR. In 2024 Siemens AG announced an agreement to acquire Altair, with the transaction subsequently completed and Altair becoming part of Siemens Digital Industries Software. Altair has a long-standing engineering and product-development presence in India, with offices in Bengaluru, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. The Bengaluru and Pune centres support global product engineering, simulation R&D, customer engineering, and IT services for the Altair HyperWorks, Altair RapidMiner, and Altair One platforms. Indian fresher hiring at Altair has typically targeted associate-engineer, software-engineer, simulation-specialist, CAE-engineer, and graduate-trainee roles, with campus drives at IITs, NITs, and tier-1 engineering institutions. Following the Siemens acquisition, Altair's India operations are being progressively integrated with Siemens Digital Industries Software, with hiring continuing across simulation, AI, and platform-engineering roles.
