About the role

United Airlines' Analytics and Innovation team is looking for an Associate Data Scientist in Gurgaon, India. You will work on building and deploying machine‑learning and generative‑AI solutions that improve airline operations, customer experience, and revenue. The position is full‑time and suited for early‑career professionals with up to three years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers and business stakeholders to gather data, build models and deliver data‑driven recommendations.
  • Develop and deploy solutions using classic ML techniques as well as GenAI/LLM tools, prompt engineering and agentic frameworks.
  • Create pipelines for multimodal models (text, voice, vision) and set up monitoring for scalable production.
  • Research cutting‑edge ML, DL and generative‑AI approaches and share knowledge across the team.
  • Communicate insights clearly through presentations and reports for non‑technical audiences.
  • Partner with data‑engineering and operations teams to keep stakeholders updated on project progress.

Eligibility

  • BTech or equivalent bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Economics or related fields.
  • 0‑3 years of relevant experience, including full‑time or internship work in analytics or data science.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Legal right to work in India (no visa sponsorship).

Skills

  • Proficiency in Python or R.
  • SQL and Excel (Microsoft Office) expertise.
  • Solid understanding of machine‑learning algorithms such as decision trees, random forests, XGBoost, gradient boosting, and K‑means clustering.
  • Good grasp of probability, statistics and data‑analysis techniques.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for business audiences.
