Application Engineer

About the role

Synopsys is seeking an Application Engineer to create full‑stack web applications that embed simulation technologies into engineering workflows. You will build front‑end interfaces with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, develop Python‑based back‑end services and RESTful APIs, and containerise solutions with Docker and Kubernetes for seamless deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement end‑to‑end web applications using Python, JavaScript, HTML and CSS that integrate simulation tools into customer workflows.
• Develop backend services and RESTful APIs that connect the UI to Python automation engines, including usage of PyAnsys libraries where relevant.
• Collaborate directly with customers and internal product teams to translate engineering requirements into functional web solutions.
• Containerise applications with Docker and orchestrate deployments via Kubernetes, maintaining CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and release.
• Leverage AI‑assisted development tools to accelerate coding, improve UI/UX prototypes, and increase test coverage.
• Participate in code reviews, produce clear documentation, and uphold code‑quality standards.
• Present technical demos to customers, gather feedback, and support adoption of new capabilities.

Eligibility

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline (Master's degree acceptable with relevant project experience).
• 2–3 years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Python for backend development and experience with web or UI frameworks.
• Solid understanding of frontend development concepts, UI/UX principles, and ability to create user‑friendly interfaces.
• Experience with Git version control, RESTful API design, networking fundamentals and relational databases.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Familiarity with the Ansys/PyAnsys ecosystem, Docker, Kubernetes or CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
