Staff Engineer - UI

About the role

Ontic is looking for a senior UI engineer to shape the frontend architecture of its security platform. You will lead the design of reusable components, set standards for performance and accessibility, and mentor engineers across multiple product teams, ensuring a consistent and scalable user experience.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve frontend architecture patterns, ensuring reusability, scalability, and maintainability across product teams.
• Drive adoption of shared platforms, design systems, and tooling to reduce duplicated effort and improve developer velocity.
• Partner with product, design, and engineering leaders to align technical decisions with business goals and establish best‑practice guidelines.
• Set and enforce standards for performance, accessibility, testing, and observability across all frontend applications.
• Identify systemic risks, lead technical debt remediation, and guide the evolution of the frontend ecosystem.
• Mentor senior engineers, foster a culture of quality, and lead cross‑team technical initiatives.

Eligibility

• 8‑12 years of software engineering experience with deep frontend expertise.
• Expert proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and large‑scale React applications.
• Strong background in frontend architecture, design systems, and scalable UI development.
• Proven track record building shared component libraries or platform solutions.
• Experience with modern tooling, CI/CD pipelines, cloud environments, and performance monitoring.
• Ability to influence technical direction across teams without direct authority.
