Associate Engineer

About the role

NTT DATA is looking for an Associate Engineer to join its Chennai office. The role is open to fresh graduates and early‑career professionals with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline. You will work on building, testing, and deploying cloud‑native software solutions that leverage micro‑services, REST APIs and modern DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software components based on detailed technical specifications.
• Write, test and debug application code, and support automated testing activities.
• Participate in CI/CD pipelines, assist with deployment, and collaborate with product and infrastructure teams.
• Contribute to the integration and scaling of large‑distributed systems using container technologies.
• Prepare and update technical and end‑user documentation, and take part in code reviews.
• Support refactoring of existing codebases and perform other engineering tasks as required.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree (B.E, B.Tech or B.Sc) in Computer Science, Engineering or an equivalent field.
• Open to freshers as well as candidates with limited professional experience.
• Basic understanding of software development lifecycle, version control and agile methodologies.
• Strong problem‑solving and programming fundamentals.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
• Preferred: Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals or related agile certifications.

Skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, C++, C# or JavaScript/Node.js.
• Knowledge of micro‑services architecture and RESTful API development.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch).
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms – AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Exposure to containerisation tools like Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and DevOps practices.
