Senior Frontend Engineer

About the role

GitLab is looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to design, build, and ship moderately sized features for its global DevSecOps platform. You will work remotely, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and help shape frontend architecture while applying AI‑assisted development practices.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver frontend features with pragmatic architectural decisions.
• Translate ambiguous product requirements into clear, accessible user experiences.
• Champion quality, security, performance, and maintainability throughout development.
• Establish and evolve standards for component design, testing, observability, and AI tool usage.
• Mentor junior engineers and remove technical blockers.
• Diagnose performance issues at scale and participate in on‑call incident response.
• Define contracts for data, events, feature flags, and error handling.
• Collaborate with product, design, backend, security, and QA teams to deliver cohesive outcomes.

Eligibility

• Proven senior‑level frontend engineering experience in complex product environments.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, asynchronous organization.
• Strong written communication and collaborative judgment.

Skills

• Vue.js, React, or Angular frameworks.
• TypeScript and JavaScript.
• GraphQL or REST APIs.
• Web performance optimization and accessibility.
• Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience integrating AI into engineering workflows.
