About the role
Eaton’s Product Stewardship & Sustainability Centre of Excellence is looking for an Associate Engineer to help drive environmental compliance for new product introductions. You will work closely with engineering, supply‑chain and quality teams to assess regulatory requirements, manage material declarations and support sustainability reporting for the ARS Electrical Business.
Responsibilities
- Perform product compliance assessments against regulations such as RoHS, REACH, ODS, POP, CP‑65 and TSCA.
- Coordinate end‑to‑end compliance processes, gathering material data from suppliers and validating it in PLM/compliance tools.
- Prepare customer compliance declarations and respond to regulatory queries.
- Support the Product Stewardship work‑package in New Product Introduction, focusing on Eco‑Design, EPR and related compliance activities.
- Analyse eco‑design regulations (e.g., EU‑ErP) and ensure product teams meet the required thresholds.
- Act as a liaison between customers and internal teams to convey sustainability requirements.
- Generate regular status reports on compliance activities and project progress.
- Engage with key customers to understand emerging sustainability trends and their impact on products.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
- Stay updated on upcoming regulatory changes and share insights with the team.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemical, Mechanical, Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
- 0‑3 years of experience in sustainability, product development or related technical fields for industrial/electrical/chemical products.
- Strong grasp of engineering and scientific concepts, including material properties and measurement methods.
- Good project‑management skills and ability to work in a matrix organisation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Skills
- Proficiency with Python for data handling.
- Advanced Excel skills, including macros.
- Experience with Power BI and Power Automate for reporting and workflow automation.
- Familiarity with PLM/compliance tools and regulation databases.
- Knowledge of sustainability regulations: RoHS, REACH, TSCA, WEEE, EPR, CP‑65, POP, ODS.
- Understanding of eco‑design directives such as EU‑ErP.
- Solid analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
