Senior Frontend Engineer, React/TypeScript

About the role

DuckDuckGo is looking for a senior frontend engineer to own and evolve major React and TypeScript surfaces across its search and consumer products. The position is fully remote, offering end‑to‑end ownership of feature development, architectural improvements, and cross‑team collaboration while upholding the company’s privacy‑first ethos.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable user interfaces using React and TypeScript for search, instant answers, and onboarding experiences.
• Lead the technical direction of frontend architecture, ensuring performance, accessibility, and cross‑browser consistency.
• Own the full lifecycle of major components, from conception through testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
• Collaborate closely with backend engineers, mobile teams, product managers, and designers to deliver polished consumer‑facing features.
• Define success metrics, track performance, and iterate based on data‑driven insights.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices, code quality, and architectural decisions.

Eligibility

• Minimum 7 years of professional software development experience, primarily focused on frontend code.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, and TypeScript.
• Strong background in web application architecture and large‑scale frontend systems.
• Proven ability to lead projects with minimal supervision.
• Experience building consumer‑grade web applications and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and contribute to technical strategy.
