Software Test Engineer Trainee

Cisco Systems is hiring a Software Test Engineer Trainee. As a Software Test Engineer Trainee, you will work alongside experienced quality engineers to validate networking and software products that millions of customers rely on every day.

About the role

This is a 12-month structured apprenticeship program under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS), giving 2025 and 2026 batch graduates a chance to work on real enterprise-grade testing, automation, and quality engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Test Planning & Execution: Help design test plans and execute functional, regression, and integration tests for Cisco products under guidance of senior engineers.
• Automation Scripting: Build small automation scripts in Python to reduce manual effort and improve test coverage across releases.
• Defect Management: File clear defect reports, work with developers to triage issues, and verify fixes once they are merged.
• API & REST Testing: Learn how to validate REST APIs using tools such as Postman and integrate API checks into the regression suite.
• Networking Validation: Get exposure to Cisco networking fundamentals, switches, routers, and lab setups used across QA teams.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Electrical Engineering, Networking, Computer Applications, Data Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Batch Year: Must have graduated in 2025 or 2026 with a Degree Certificate or Provisional Degree Certificate (PDC) at the time of joining.
• NATS Enrolment: Candidates must be enrolled as a student on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme portal (nats.education.gov.in) with a valid NATS enrolment number.

Skills

• Basic knowledge of MS Office tools and a good understanding of programming concepts will be an advantage.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication in English with a Can-Do attitude.
