About the role

Akamai Technical Academy 2026 is a free, remote learning program that equips candidates with foundational IT skills over a 12‑week period. Designed for individuals without prior technical experience, the academy covers Linux, networking, web fundamentals, databases, Python scripting and basic security, preparing participants for entry‑level technology roles or a six‑month apprenticeship with Akamai.

Responsibilities

• Complete six structured courses on Pluralsight, dedicating roughly 10 hours per week.
• Engage with self‑paced labs and quizzes to reinforce concepts in operating systems, networking, web applications, databases, Python and IT security.
• Participate in optional networking sessions with alumni, mentors and Akamai hiring teams.
• Attend career‑coaching workshops and receive guidance on resume building and interview preparation.
• Undergo a guaranteed phone screen with Akamai upon successful completion of the curriculum.

Eligibility

• Open to candidates of any academic background; no prior technical experience required.
• Proficiency in English and ability to commit ~10 hours per week to online study.
• Must be located in India, Costa Rica or Poland as per the official cohort eligibility.
• Strong interest in technology, self‑motivation and good communication skills.

Skills

• Basic understanding of operating‑system concepts and command‑line usage.
• Fundamental networking knowledge such as TCP/IP, HTTP and VPN basics.
• Introductory web development concepts including HTML, CSS and APIs.
• Fundamental relational database concepts and simple SQL queries.
• Python programming basics for scripting and automation.
• Awareness of core IT‑security principles like cryptography and network protection.
