Software Engineer Intern (AI & GenAI)

About the role

Wayfair is looking for a Computer Science student to join its Bangalore engineering hub as a Software Engineer Intern. The internship focuses on AI‑first software development, covering areas such as search, storefront, supply‑chain, marketing tech, and machine‑learning platforms. Interns will work on real‑world e‑commerce features while exploring generative AI tools throughout the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, test, and deploy software components using Python, Java or C++.
• Integrate generative AI assistants into design, coding, testing and deployment workflows.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams across domains like search, storefront, supply‑chain and ML platforms.
• Write and optimise SQL queries and develop front‑end features with JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging sessions and performance tuning.
• Document work, share knowledge and contribute to team retrospectives.

Eligibility

• Enrolled in the 7th semester of a full‑time B.E./B.Tech program in Computer Science.
• Available to undertake the internship during the 8th semester.
• Strong academic record and a passion for AI‑driven software engineering.

Skills

• Object‑oriented programming fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Python, Java or C++.
• Familiarity with SQL, JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• Basic understanding of full‑stack, mobile or cloud development concepts.
• Interest in machine learning, generative AI and AI‑assisted development tools.
• Problem‑solving mindset, autonomy and good communication skills.
