Software Engineer I

About the role

NCR Voyix is seeking a Software Engineer I to join its Chennai development team. The role involves building and maintaining cloud‑enabled applications using Go, TypeScript and React, contributing across the full software development lifecycle, and collaborating with senior engineers in an on‑site, full‑time capacity.

Responsibilities

• Take part in the entire software development lifecycle from gathering requirements to design, coding, testing and deployment.
• Write clean, efficient and well‑documented code, leveraging AI assistance where appropriate.
• Work closely with senior engineers and cross‑functional teams to clarify requirements and engage in technical discussions.
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve software defects and issues.
• Develop unit tests and assist in integration and system testing activities.
• Continuously learn and apply new technologies, tools and methodologies relevant to project needs.
• Participate in code reviews, offering constructive feedback to peers.
• Maintain and enhance existing software applications.
• Document technical designs, processes and procedures.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Strong grasp of core computer‑science concepts such as data structures, algorithms and object‑oriented programming.
• Proficiency in Go, TypeScript and React.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS); GCP knowledge is a plus.
• Familiarity with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) is preferred.
• Experience with version control (Git/GitHub) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Good problem‑solving, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and adapting to challenges.
• Prior internship or project experience in software development is advantageous.
